Nepokorennye Gallery (Gallery of the Unsubdued): play for new generations

08/07/2011

The Novosibirsk branch of the Saint Petersburg studio Nepokorennye (The Unsubdued) opened an original exhibit of young contemporary art in the KINOСITY Cultural and Leisure Center. The exhibit will be open to the public until August 9; you are welcome to come and see how global traditions are perceived by young creative artists.

Young authors always have something to say. Every new generation seeks to make radical changes in art, pin their own rules and slogans into their artwork, create something different, and even something entirely new and trendy. The modern art generation is different as these artists do not make loud statements, nor do they come out with pretentious manifestoes. They are not so engaged and prefer to work and create within the limits of their own individuality. Classical masterpieces turn into an opportunity for our contemporary authors to play and distort everything to fit their personal order for the new century.

Similar thoughts were evoked by the artwork presented at the new Nepokorennye Gallery (Gallery of the Unsubdued). Two collections were presented for Novosibirsk visitors to judge: “Ferma Delfinov” (Dolphin Farm) or “Ubiyenie” (Killing), and a photo project – “Kamerny Svet” (Chamber Lights).
