Total Contemporary. Night of Contemporary Art
A special event – Night of Contemporary Art – will be held in Saint Petersburg through the night of 17 to 18 June, 2011; ten galleries will take part in this event. This will be the only night when all the galleries will be open to the public.
Our showroom, Studiya Nepokorennye (The Unsubdued Studio) invites you to visit the exhibit of a young artist from Saint Petersburg, Kirill Makarov.
Art work and painting, born on the edge of reality and illusion, immerse the spectator in irrational and ambiguous space. This is expressed in combinations of abstract and figurative graphic language at the formal level. The basic structural unit in Kirill’s paintings … is represented by visual symbols, floating, concentrated flows of information that have lost their linearity. Each of his paintings contains elements of play principles inherent in our general world outlook. Play establishes a balance of rights between the real and imaginary; real significance breaks away from the object itself, and the subject is invested with a “fictitious I-me” role; it seems to be suspended. The individual plays all the time, but he is not conscious of what he is doing.
